A competitive and reliable solution for small communities
The European Directive (91/271/EEC) states that towns less than 2 000 eh, and already equiped with a collection system, should also be endowed with a suitable treatment system by December 31st, 2005. In France, the ministerial order of June 21st, 1996 and its enforcement circular (n° 97-31) define the minimum technical instructions concerning wastewater treatment works in municipalities with a sewage treatment plant capacity of less than 2 000 eh. Applying such instructions requires that a significant number of sewage treatment plants be renovated. New plants will also need to comply with such instructions.
To meet these requirements, SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT has developed the Rhizopur® Product, a cost-effective solution, suited to small communities.
Rhizopur® is a proprietary process of SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT, covered by a European Patent. This process combines two technologies :
- A bacterial bed to treat carbon and nitrogen
- Beds planted with reeds to filter water and treat sludge, without any secondary clarifier
Thanks to this combination, the operator can treat not only the wastewater but also the sludge produced, in a compact and easy to operate configuration.
